Cleaning Ink from Microfiber Couchesby Felicia Williams We have already discussed the fact that there are four cleaning codes for microfiber couches. The method listed below for cleaning ink stains from microfiber couches works on those with the codes of S, W and S/W. If you have a microfiber couch coded X, speak to a professional before trying this method. The manager at a furniture retail store shared this tip with me and I want to share it with you. Often times his own sales staff were the culprit in leaving ink marks on the inventory. They would sit on the couch, forgetting about the uncovered pen in the back pocket or one erroneous hand gesture with a pen in hand resulted in ink stains on the showroom sofa. Ink stains on furniture are not considered selling features so no matter the color of the ink or the color of the microfiber sofa the stain had to go. Because they specialize in couches with the S, W and S/W cleaning codes, this method is safe for such couches. It was not tried on an X coded couch. Steps for Cleaning Ink Stains
If you're concerned that you will ruin your microfiber couch, find an inconspicuous area of the couch and test the hairspray. Apply the hairspray to a small area, rub it with a damp cloth (as if you were removing an ink stain) and then let it dry. Wait until it completely dries before proceeding to the actual ink stain. You want to be 100% confident that the hairspray won’t ruin your couch (it won’t).
