Cleaning Micrfiber Couches Code Xby Felicia Williams If you purchased a microfiber couch with a tag that says it’s a code “X,” more than likely you don’t have children or the sofa does not get heavy usage. A couch with a code X tag means no liquid cleaners; the couch can be dry cleaned only. For those of you who are determined to use a liquid cleaner on your microfiber couch (which is not recommended), test the liquid on a small area. Find a small inconspicuous area on the back or underside of your sofa to test the liquid cleaner. After testing a small area of the couch, dab the area dry with a white cloth and allow the area to air dry. You may soon find out exactly why couches labeled code X are not to be cleaned with liquid cleaners.
