UnionTools Snow Shovels for a Great Shoveling Experience

If you live in an area that gets snow, having the right shovel is important. I never realized how much the correct shovel could enhance the shoveling experience. In my case, the right shovel, one made by UnionTools, changed my shoveling experience from a chore to a welcome meditative practice.

Here’s a Little Shoveling Background

I live in an area where traditionally, it would snow in the winter. Some years we get a lot of snow, and other years, not so much.

When we first purchased the house, we had a local guy plow our driveway, while I shoveled the walkway. Little did I know that I’d truly enjoy the shoveling experience.

Let’s face it, an early morning shovel while the world is quiet and nature is doing its nature thing is quite peaceful. It’s sort of a zen workout.

The Cost of Plowing

As I mentioned earlier, some years we get a lot of snow and others not so much. Well, it seemed that for a few seasons we had snow almost daily. As such, the plow guy made a fortune! He made a fortune while we sat and watched him plow and drive off with our cash. By the end of the season, we were several hundred dollars poorer and flabbier.

Paying someone to plow while you sit and watch is not the way to get in shape, financially or physically.

Snow Plowing: Enough is Enough

Much to my husband's chagrin, I fired the plow guy, got a couple of shovels and began shoveling not only the walkway but the rather impressively sized driveway. Did I mention my driveway is on a steep hill?

Shoveling became my thing. There’s an art to shoveling. Anyway, after going through several shovels because the feeling wasn’t right, I came across a shovel made by UnionTools. It was my favorite. I felt like The Little Engine that Could.

Snowstorm after snowstorm, my UnionTools shovel and I cleared the walkway and driveway. While I got in great physical shape, my shovel, over the years, began to show signs of age.

Replacing My Beloved Shovel

My husband ran out and purchased a few shovels as replacements for my tool. However, those new-fangled bent armed “back protecting” shovels with the large deep, bucket-type blade were all crap! Not only did they ruin the shoveling experience, but the shovels squeaked and were not efficient! Shoveling was quickling becoming a chore!

I was so pleased to find the UnionTools brand online so I ordered two shovels. They both arrived and now I sit checking the weather looking for the next snowstorm. I can’t wait to get back out there with my beloved tools!

Oh, in case you’re wondering...yes, we did have a snow thrower. It was large, loud and environmentally unfriendly. It also did not provide a quiet, zen workout like a shovel does.

Yes, I know...sounds crazy, but that’s just how I’m wired!
